This tool computes the SHA1 digest over an input block of bytes in hexadecimal notation. Spaces and newlines are removed.

On 23 February 2017, researchers from CWI Amsterdam and Google Researchers broke SHA-1 in practice. By finding two messages that result in the same digest, they demonstrated that SHA-1 is not collision resistant. These messages were published in their paper "The first collision for full SHA-1".
